  • ICAN thanks its La Porte area supporters

1.5 million people in Houston give of their time, knowledge and resources to strengthen our community.  The ICAN Foundation feels honored to have some of those amazing volunteers among its ranks.  Our volunteers embrace our mission of paving new pathways for children to grow academically, physically and mentally. In 2019, 155 ICAN volunteers donated 960 hours to our programs.  In thanks, volunteers from O&P Battleground, Oligomers Miller Cut-Off, and Styrolution Bayport were treated to lunch at the Pipeline Grill.  They also received a token thank you gift.  “Our volunteers inspire us,” said Kathryn Shuler, ICAN Foundation Executive Director.  “We thank each and every one of you for everything you do to support the ICAN Foundation’s mission.”

  • Another Successful ICAN Golf Classic

Thank you so much to the 70 sponsors, 268 golfers and 34 INEOS volunteers who made the tournament a huge success. You’re providing the means to get local kids excited about exercise. You’re also providing teachers with funds for special teaching projects. The Foundation feels honored to have such overwhelming support.

Net proceeds from the fourth annual ICAN Golf Classic were $126,000. Proceeds will fund teaching grants in up to 6 local school districts. They’ll also allow us to deliver the INEOS GO Run For Fun Program to more than 13,000 children!

Golfers reported having a good time at the September 24 tournament. There was plenty of great food at our sponsors’ hospitality tents. And there were plenty of opportunities for networking..and trash talking…and laughs:

“Oh well.” “Turn baby, turn!” “First ball I lost today, honestly.” “At least mine’s not in the water.” “Did anybody see where my ball went?” “Put on your hearing protection, ‘cause there’s gonna be a sonic boom.” “You missed my good swing!”

We want give a special shout out to our Diamond and Platinum-level sponsors. Thanks go to Diamond sponsors Chemic and Hargrove. We so very much appreciate your exceptional level of support. Thanks too, to our Platinum sponsors for your generous support. Our 2019 Platinum sponsors were Gulf Coastal Services, Performance Contractors, Trans-Global Solutions and Zachry Group.

Now, onto the winners! The Frontier Logistics team took 1st place at this year’s event. Congratulations to John Black, Kaleb Presley, David Curl and Kevin Newkirk. Our 2nd place winners came from Wholesale Electric. Taking 2nd place were Chris Cloninger, Wes Eustis, Ryan Kruse and Troy Martin. Port Terminal Railroad Association fielded the 3rd place team. PTRA’s team included Ed Blass, Kirk Higbie, Kal Lallenberger and Chris Wattford. We’ve added your names to the ICAN Golf Classic Champions list!

Last but not least, the games of skill. Winners included Peter Kim, Kaleb Presley, Jeff Crocker and Coy Grahen. Peter and Kaleb won the longest drive contest on each course. Jeff and Coy won for Closest to the Pin. Congratulations to you all! And thank you again to all of our players, sponsors and volunteers for your support. We hope to see you again next year.

There was lots of food, lots of fun, and lots of fellowship as 256 golfers and 59 sponsors took to the course and enjoyed a beautiful day of golf at the INEOS ICAN Golf Classic, held September 24 at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, TX. The ICAN Golf Classic is our largest annual fundraising event, and we cannot thank our golfers and sponsors enough for the good things that their participation enables in our local communities.  Because of their generosity and support six school districts will receive 2019 donations for teaching grant programs, and over 13,000 children will be encouraged to develop good exercise habits through INEOS GO Run For Fun events!

We’d like to especially thank our Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver-level sponsors: Trans-Global Solutions, Zachry Group; Gulf Coastal Services, Hargrove Engineers + Constructors, Jacobs Engineering, Universal Plant services; Albemarle Corporation, Chemic Engineers and Constructors, Ref-Chem, SNC-Lavalin, TrinityRail Group; Chemical Process & Production, Clean Harbors, Frontier Transport, Industrial Air Tool, International Cooling Tower USA, Praxair, Scope Management Solutions, Star Service and Waste Management.

We also want to thank all of our INEOS volunteers, without whom the ICAN Golf Classic and all the wonderful works it enables wouldn’t be possible.

We hope to see everyone again next year at the September 23, 2019 tournament!

The 2018 INEOS ICAN Golf Classic is sold out!

280 golfers from 75 companies will meet on September 24, 2018 at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land to play in the ICAN Foundation’s 3rd annual golf tournament.

The ICAN Foundation thanks all of the wonderful sponsors and players who are participating in this year’s tournament.  This year is our biggest yet, raising over $191,000!

We’re so grateful to our players and sponsors for supporting us in helping to fund the delivery of INEOS GO Run For Fun, our child fitness program, and the innovative teaching grants made through local education foundations.

Plenty of activities are planned during the day to help players have a great time.

Registration begins at 7:30 AM, after which players can grab breakfast tacos, visit the sponsor hospitality tents at the golfer’s village, pick up a cigar, or hit the driving range.

Play is a scramble format, beginning with an 8:30 AM shotgun start.  Lunch will be provided during play, with awards presented immediately following the tournament.

Players on each of Sweetwater’s two beautiful courses will also have the opportunity to visit 4 additional hospitality tents, and vie for prizes in the hole-in-one, closest to the pin, and longest drive contests.

We want to especially thank our Diamond-level sponsors TransGlobal Solutions and Zachry; our Platinum-level sponsors Gulf Coastal Services, Hargrove, Jacobs, and Universal Plant Services; and our Gold-level sponsors Albemarle, Chemic, Ref-Chem, SNC Lavalin, and Trinity Rail.
