On January 9, the INEOS ICAN Foundation donated $1500 to the Texas City ISD Foundation for the Future (TCFF). Rob Osterhold was on hand to present the check. Rob is INEOS Styrolution’s Operations Manager over its Texas City and Bayport manufacturing plants. Christina Hall-Payne received the check on behalf of TCFF. Christina is the Executive Director of TCFF. TCFF gives teaching grants to Texas City ISD teachers. These grants fund special teaching projects within the district.
This was our first-ever donation to TCFF! Rob, who is also a member of the ICAN Board of Directors, explained the ICAN Foundation’s mission. “Our mission is to improve health and education outcomes for local children, he said”. Rob also told Christina how “pleased we are to collaborate with them on their teaching grant program”.
Christina said that she’d like to find more ways for us to partner. She invited Rob to tour Texas City ISD’s Career and Technology Education (CTE) center. She told us that the CTE center offers 16 career clusters to high school students from Texas City and La Marque. Many of the CTE clusters provide 4-year training programs for trades in demand by the oil, gas and chemical industry. She also invited INEOS to have a presence at the CTE’s career fair.
FYI – ICAN is expanding as fast as it can! Our charter is to first serve those areas where INEOS employees live and work. ICAN chose to expand into Texas City for two reasons. One is because INEOS has operations there. The other is that a significant number of INEOS employees live in Texas City.
